The Vibrator
A Vibrator is an electric device which produces vibrations. The vibrations of the Vibrator are generally generated by making a small electro motor with a weight attached to it (placed somewhat out of the middle of the axis; eccentrically) run at a high speed. In general this electro motor functions on batteries, but there are also vibrators with a connection to the socket. The rechargeable vibrators are relatively new; you place them back in their holder after having used them in order to charge them again for the next round. A vibrator is used in order to stimulate and strengthen the sexual feelings. Figures of the largest Dutch manufacturers of erotic implements show that yearly over than a million vibrators are sold in the Netherlands.
Both men and women can use a vibrator in order to generate or strengthen a sexual pleasure for example during masturbation. The soft vibrating device can give a pleasant feeling which can be a supplement to manual masturbation. The vibrator can also be used between partners in order to vary the sex game. The vibrator can for example be used to give the woman an orgasm, or to strengthen her lust. Many women cannot have an orgasm through sexual intercourse, but they can have it with the help of a vibrator. Vibrators can be purchased in many imaginative shapes and colors. The material of the vibrator can vary; some are made of hard plastic, soft synthetic (amongst others silicone, ur3), metal and glass. For anal use there are narrower and often a bit longer anal vibrators. Do you want to know which vibrators we sell? Click here and you will find out
Attention: Women who only use a vibrator to have an orgasm, might get addicted to it physically. They cannot have an orgasm anymore by oral or manual stimulation and will need more severe movements since the clitoris has adapted itself to the vibrations which the vibrator produces. It is therefore important to vary and not using the same vibrator each day.
History of the vibrator.
Women didn’t start masturbating only in the nineteenth century. Female masturbation also took place in the eighteenth century. Only in 1869 the first vibrator was invented and since men always know better – or think they do – what women want, the inventor was a man. It was an American doctor who invented a large, heavy vibrator driven by steam. This vibrator was used within the hospital for medicinal purposes. The vibrator couldn’t be used at home.
What could be done with this device in a hospital then? Actually, this vibrator was invented for treating all kinds of female complaints, for example Hysteria (we haven’t invented it!). Within the medical world it was thought that a massage of the genital organs could heal for example hysteria. In this way, many women could enjoy an orgasm on prescription.
The vibrator became accessible for the large public of (healthy) women around the beginning of the 20th century (1900). Next to the sewing machine, the electric kettle and the toaster, the vibrator was one of the first tools driven by electricity. The first vibrator on the market looked like a combination of a ventilator with a hammer drill and looks like a very awkward tool. Until the mid twenties women could easily order a vibrator with a mail-order firm. Information around this theme could be obtained in women’s magazines and household magazines. The vibrators were sold with the help of an advertising campaign which highlighted the “pleasure of the woman with a vibrator”. When suddenly vibrators were used in pornographic movies (you could have expected it), vibrators were put under taboo.
The contemporary vibrators which we know nowadays came into being around 1966. The vibrator has become popular again in the last decades since the media has given a lot of attention to sex and sexuality. Television series like “sex in the city” contributed in a positive way to making sex and eroticism discussible. This development must be linked to the sexual revolution, the female emancipation and the technological progress. Modern vibrators can be purchased in all kinds of sizes and shapes.
